The third member of the Cerritos College men's basketball team has inked his named to a National Letter of Intent. Center Jamal Watson (Lakewood HS), who averaged 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds a game, has signed with Mississippi Valley State University. He joins Luis Medearis (Biola University) and Marquise Scott (University of Antelope Valley), who have already made their commitments.

Jamal Watson (33) signed with Mississippi Valley State University Watson had several outstanding games for the South Coast Conference South Division champion Falcons, including a season-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds in just 22 minutes against Los Angeles Southwest College. He also accounted for 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots against Pasadena City College. Watson started 20 games on the year and netted 49% of his field goals on the season.

The Delta Devils are an NCAA Division I program that competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, where they finished in ninth place and concluded the season with an 8-27 record. They won their first two games in the SWAC Tournament, including a stunning 64-61 win over second place Alcorn State. Their season came to an end with a 74-68 loss to third place Jackson State University in the semifinals.

He will look to fill the role of one of graduating center Latrell Love, who was fourth on the team in scoring and provide depth in the front court.
