In their first action of the season, the Cerritos College men's basketball team won two of three games at the Miramar Tournament. The Falcons (2-1) opened with a 77-74 win over Rio Hondo College and then dropped an 82-70 decision to the host Jets. On the final day, they earned a 70-59 win against MiraCosta College. The team will take a week off before opening the Irvine Valley Tournament on November 17 with a 4:00 p.m. game against Imperial Valley College.

Cerritos vs. Rio Hondo: The Falcons received balanced scoring in their first game of the season, with a trio of players scoring in double figures. Led by sophomore Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS), who converted 5-of-8 shots, including a trio of three-pointers, he paced the team with 16 points and also pulled down six rebounds. Sophomore Salvador Carlos (Downey HS/Biola University) also netted as many three-pointers and pulled down five rebounds to go with his 15 points. The key off the bench was freshman Dezmon Murphy (La Mirada HS), who added 14 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots, with Cerritos getting 34 points from the bench. Sophomore Tyler Payne (La Mirada HS) and freshman Malik Smith (Gahr HS) each scored nine points.

Cerritos vs. Miramar: Although the Falcons drained 10 three-pointers, the Jets hit 11 of their own, with Javan Perry connecting on four of them, on his way to a game-high 23 points. Cerritos had six different players make three-pointers and were led by Perez's three, as he finished with 12 points. Sophomore Brian Nebo (St. John Bosco HS) led the team with 13 points, with freshman Jonathan Guzman (Paramount HS) posting 12 points off the bench to go with his 12 rebounds. Sophomore Devan Burrell (Centennial, NV HS/Cypress College) added 10 points off the bench, with Murphy hauling in 16 rebounds.

Cerritos vs. MiraCosta: Although Perez posted just three points in the Falcons final game, he was named to the All-Tournament team. Nebo led the team with 14 points, while Murphy and Guzman posted 11 points and four rebounds each. Payne accounted for 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds, with freshman Riley Hamilton (Rancho Verde HS) accounting for nine points off the bench in the win.
