Cerritos College sophomore forward Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS) is the first member of the men's basketball team to sign with a four-year school. Perez, who was named Honorable Mention All-State, as well as 1st Team All-South Coast Conference South Division, has signed with Sacramento State University. He was the first all-state selection since the 2013-14 season and 28th in school history.

Perez helped lead the Falcons to a 21-7 record on the year and berth in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The team suffered a 79-67 loss to Citrus College in the second round of the playoffs, which ended their season. Perez led the Falcons with 19 points and seven rebounds in the game.

Perez led the team in scoring (13.6), rebounds (6.8) and free throw percentage (77.9%), while he was also named the MVP of the Irvine Valley Tournament during the season. He scored double-figures in 22 of the team's 28 games, including a season-high 27 points and 19 rebounds against El Camino College. Also a threat from the outside, Perez recorded a trio of three-pointers four times and had five double-doubles on the year.

He will be joining a Hornets team that went 13-18 on the season and lost in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament. The team loses a pair of post players to graduation and Perez will have two seasons with Sacramento State and will be one of four upperclassmen vying for minutes at the post position.
