After coming in second place at the South Coast Conference Tournament, the Cerritos College men's water polo team was seeded #5 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (21-9), who lost to Mt. San Antonio College in the conference championship game, will open the postseason against the same Mounties team, who was seeded #4. The tournament, which is being held at Citrus College, gets underway on Friday, with the Cerritos game taking place at 10:10 a.m. This marks the ninth season in a row the Falcons have advanced to the playoffs and 19th time under the direction of head coach Joe Abing.

Cerritos has split their two games against the Mounties this season, with the winner advancing to the next round and will take on top-seeded Golden West College at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The team boasts five players who have scored over 40 goals this season and are led by Joshua Lamberton (Glendale HS), who has 74 goals on the year, followed by Timothy Robles (Schurr HS), who has 54. Also scoring over 40 goals on the year are Kobe Hurtado (Cerritos HS), Allan Jimenez (Schurr HS) and Jacob Colon (Schurr HS). Silvestre Chavez (Downey HS) is the team-leader in assists with 57, while Robles is close behind with 54 helpers. Every field player on the team has at least one goal and assist on the season.

The goalkeeping tandem of Diego Campos (Downey HS) and Henry De Luna Pena (Baldwin Park HS) have shared most of the responsibilities in goal, with Campos leading the way with 185 saves and has posted an 11-5 record. As for De Luna Pena, he is 10-4 on the year with 96 saves on the year.
