The Cerritos College women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the year after their 6-3 victory over host Riverside City College on Friday. The team will now travel to San Diego Mesa College for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match on Tuesday.

Winning four of the six singles matches put the Falcons within one win from clinching the team victory. That win came when the #2 doubles tandem of sophomores Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) and Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) posted an 8-6 victory over Venezia Moyano and Laura Zarate. Cerritos also picked up a win in the #1 doubles spot, as sophomore Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) and freshman Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS) registered an 8-5 win against Sheila James and Aracia Dettman. 

The advantage in the match came in singles action, with the Falcons picking up four victories. Judan got the day started with her 6-1, 6-0 win, while freshman Staci Gonzales (Vista del Lago HS) matched that score in the #6 position. Also winning in straight sets were Ilagan (6-0, 6-3) and Perez (6-1, 6-2).
