W. Track & Field: Several strong showings highlight day for Falcons

The Cerritos College women's track and field team recorded several strong performances at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational over the weekend. The Falcons, who will be serving as the host of the Beach Invitational this weekend, won an event, while they posted a pair of second place and third place finishes on Saturday.

Freshman Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS), fresh off winning the Southern California Heptathlon championship three days earlier, won the high jump with a clearance of 1.67 meters. In the triple jump, sophomore Justina Cummings (Westchester HS) took second place with a jump of 11.36 meters, while sophomore Larrisha Fields (Lakewood HS) placed second in the discus with a throw of 42.14 meters. Sophomore Angel Sifuentes (Central Union HS), who finished third in the SoCal Heptathlon Championships, posted a throw of 37.71 meters to come in third place in the javelin, while sophomore Tuki Sauvao (Artesia HS) placed fifth with a throw that traveled 34.52 meters and added a fifth place in shot put at 12.16 meters.

Freshman Stephanie Grant (Bellflower HS) earned a third place finish in the long jump with a clearance of 4.82 meters, with freshman Dorianne Ordaz (Bravo HS) tossing the hammer 46.07 meters to come in sixth place.

Freshman Maira Solis (Roosevelt HS) recorded a time of 4:50.73 to come in fourth place in the 1500 meters, while her time of 2:24.84 earned her a 13th place in the 800 meters. Sophomore Amber Greer (Palisades HS/ECC Compton Center HS) ran a 1:04.79 to finish fourth in the 400-meter IH, with sophomore La China Bellamy (Narbonne HS) taking eighth in 1:06.95. Sophomore Khadijah Hall (Gahr HS) ran the 100-meter HH in 15.55 to come in sixth place, while Sauvao's time of 15.67 put her in eighth place.
