On the strength of their 20-4 South Coast Conference win over visiting Rio Hondo College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team improved to 3-0. The Falcons (4-3 overall) will host Chaffey College at 3:00 p.m. next Wednesday in another conference match.

In the first quarter, Cerritos opened an 8-0 lead, with freshman Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS) scoring three times and five different players recording goals. Sophomore Isabella Sierra (California HS), who scored a game-high six goals, recorded three of her four assists in the first eight minutes of the match. It was an 11-0 lead before the Roadrunners got on the scoreboard. In fact, Rio Hondo didn't even get off a shot against sophomore goalkeeper Ivanna Tostado (Troy HS) until their goal was scored.

The Falcons scored four times in each of the final three quarters, as Gomez finished with five goals and two assists, with freshman Hailey Rabb (Gahr HS) accounting for four goals, three assists and three steals. Defensively, sophomore Elisa Prohroff (Schurr HS) led the way with six of the team's 19 steals, while she produced two goals and three assists on offense.

Sophomore Jackie Oliveros (Gahr HS) had four steals, while Tostado turned away nine shots.
