W. Water Polo: Shutout highlights conference match

For the second season in a row, the Cerritos College women's water polo team shut out Los Angeles Trade-Tech College in a South Coast Conference match. In their final regular season conference match, the Falcons posted a 16-0 win over the Lady Techsters at the Falcon Aquatic Center on Wednesday. The team will now compete in the Santa Barbara City College Tournament over the weekend and open on Friday at  4:40 p.m. against the host Vaqueros.

Cerritos (11-10, 6-2) scored seven times in the first quarter and then pulled back on the reins over the next two quarters. Playing without any subs, the Falcons capped off the game with five more goals in the fourth quarter,

Freshman Joanna Joson (Gahr HS) led the team with a season-high four goals and assisted on a pair of goals. The trio of sophomores Lindsay de Haas (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) and Isabella Sierra (California HS), along with freshman Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS) scored three times for Cerritos, while Sierra also added five steals and shared the team lead of three steals with Gomez. Every field player scored at least once, with sophomore goalkeeper Ivanna Tostado (Troy HS) making three saves and also assisted on a goal. She moved into the field for the final minute of the game, but didn't get on the scoreboard. Freshman Hailey Rabb (Gahr HS) recorded seven steals to go along with her two goals.
