A former All-American selection while a member of the Falcons
from 2008-09, Luis Gonzalez is now entering his second season on
the coaching staff. He bring a great deal of playing success to the
staff and is currently still active as a member of the USL
Professional Division Club Los Angeles Blues. In addition, he
played for the USL PDL team Thunder Bay Chill from 2010-11 and
helped the team to the Heartland and Central Conference title in
his second season.
As a member of the Cerritos men’s soccer team, Gonzalez was
named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)
Player of the Year in 2009 and led all California community
colleges with 27 goals (a school record) and was the South Coast
Conference Player of the Year. He was a two-time All-American
selection and was selected the Most Valuable Player of the 2008
state championship tournament after leading the Falcons to the
title and #2 ranking in the country.
While at Cal Poly Pomona, Gonzalez was named the California
Collegiate Athlete Association (CCAA) Most Valuable Offensive
Player of the Year and received All-CCAA 1st Team honors. In
his two-year career with the Broncos, he tallied 26 goals, which
ranks second in school history and even scored three goals in 18
minutes in one game his senior season. As a junior, he led the CCAA
with 33 points and earned NCAA Division II All-American honors, as
well as 2nd Team All-NSCAA and All-CCAA 1st Team
recognition. In a game against Cal State East Bay as a junior,
Gonzalez scored four goals and assisted on two others for an
amazing 10-point game.
