So, you’re thinking about becoming a Cerritos College Falcon Student-Athlete? Making a choice to continue your educational journey is a very important one, and you should know that Cerritos College and Cerritos Athletics are here to support you each step of the way. From our 19 athletic offerings for men and women, to our integrated student support programs, and everything in-between, Cerritos has all that you need to be successful in the classroom and in competition. Successful transfer to the four year institution or finding a career is our goal. As listed on our ABOUT US page, Cerritos has lots to offer you.
Academically, student-athletes complete over 30 units a year, taking classes Summer, Fall and Spring. They also average a 2.95 GPA during that time, making them eligible for their AA Degree and transfer in about two years. To help you as a student-athlete, most of our programs are led by full-time faculty members, which allows them to be on campus and provide guidance throughout your day. We also have integrated counselors who understand the demands of athletes that help build your course schedule.
Commonly known as the "College of Champions", Falcon athletics has captured 55 state championships, 31 of them coming in the last 23 years, and the most baseball state championships in state history. The list of program success, transfers, scholarships and professional athletes is extensive, and we plan on continuing to expand that list every year.
Campus support for our students is a cornerstone of Cerritos College. We have a food pantry, book vouchers, and other on-campus programs to help address student insecurities. Our coaches and staff know that many students have additional needs outside of the college, and we can direct you to extensive resources to help you along the way.
Lastly, the Division of Kinesiology has many new and/or improving facilities to help students with instruction and competition. With the recent construction of state-of-the-art weight room, fitness, gymnasium, sports medicine and team locker rooms, our facilities are second to none. Future improvements are planned for our stadium, soccer field, and baseball field. Our college is also building housing for students that should be completed in the next few years, offering over 300 students an on-campus facility.
