In his second stint as a member of the coaching staff, Justin Paulsen previously coached with the Falcons from 2012-13 and returned to the staff in 2021.
Paulsen competed collegiately at Stanford University, where he qualified for the NCAA Championships at 133 pounds as a senior, but was defeated in both of his matches, while he also qualified as a junior. A four-year letterman at Stanford, Paulsen prepped at Calvary Chapel High School, where he was a two-time CIF Champion and won the Masters championship as a senior. He won the Pacific Coast league championship four years in a row and placed in the top three at the State Championships three years in a row, while reaching the finals twice.
Additionally. Paulsen won the 5 Counties Tournament championship and was also the runner-up at the NHSCA Tournament and Reno Tournament of Champions.
Paulsen,37, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in Science, Technology and Society in 2011.
Paulsen and his wife Katie have been married for 12 years and have two children – Jacob (12) and Emma (11), who are involved in wrestling, gymnastics and baseball. They reside in Artesia.
