After a slow start to their game against Rio Hondo College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's basketball team caught fire and rolled to a 92-57 win. The 92 points scored by the Falcons (12-5) were a season high and was their fifth win in the last six games. They will close out their South Coast Conference crossover schedule with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Friday.

It was a tight 27-24 Cerritos lead in the first half until a 20-6 run allowed them to open up a sizable lead. During that run, the Falcons were 6-for-6 from the field, which included consecutive three-pointers from freshman Everett May (Los Alamitos HS). Taking a 49-32 lead into halftime, Cerritos was able to extend their lead over 20 points after freshman Gary Williams (Dominguez HS) hit a three-pointer with 17:10 left in the game.

The Falcons continued to run their fast-break style offense and capitalized on multiple Roadrunner turnovers. A steal a three-pointer from freshman Christian Bennett (Redondo Union HS) swelled the lead to 72-43, and by the end of the game, everyone scored for the Falcons. The lead was as high as 39 points (91-52) with 2:11 remaining.

Of the five players who scored in double-digits, three of them came off the bench, with Bennett leading the way with 15 points, which included a team-high three three-pointers. Boykins added 13 points, five assists and four rebounds, with May checking in with 12 points and five rebounds. The duo of sophomore Jalen Shores (Lakewood HS) and freshman Taeo Thomas (Verbum Dei HS) each produced 11 points and combined for eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.
