Cerritos College Track & Field (2012): Competed in the 800 meters (2:09.56), 1500 meters (4:27.87) and 5000 meters (17:49.93)…..

Long Beach Wilson HS: Competed in the 1600 meters (4:40) and 3200 meters (10:32) while on the track and field team for four years… Earned the Unsung Runner Award as a senior after receiving the Most Valuable Runner as a member of the junior varsity team his junior season… Also competed on the cross country team for four years and recorded a personal best time of 16:36…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was having his team come in second place in the Moore League… Would like to transfer to either the University of North Carolina or the University of Texas… Aspires to be a sign language interpreter… Competed in a marathon and posted a time of 2:56.3… Hobbies include surfing and Muay Thai… Has five siblings – Jessica (31), Veronica (30), Vanessa (24), Jonathan (17) and Rebecca (12)… Is the son of Andres Melena and Lorena Valadez… Born in Torrance, CA on November 8, 1992…..
