For the second month in a row, a member of a Cerritos College team was named the CCCAA Athlete of the Month. In October, men's water polo player Angel Rojas was named the Male Athlete of the Month, while freshman wrestler David Van Weems (Corona Centennial HS) followed by being voted the November Male Athlete of the Month.

Competing at 197 pounds, Van Weems posted a spotless 8-0 record during the month of November, which included a championship at the Fresno City Open. At that tournament, Van Weems, who went on to win the CCCAA State Championship, defeated Kalvin Stuckey of Fresno and Wes Ruffer of Lassen, who placed second and third, respectively, at the state tournament.

Van Weems also won all three of his matches at the Simpson Duals, which featured three of the top community colleges from outside of California. He capped off the month by defeating Stuckey, 27-11, at the CCCAA State Team Duals, helping the Falcons finish first. Van Weems defeated Stuckey for the final time in the state championship match and concluded the season with a perfect 23-0 record.

Cerritos leads the state with 21 overall Athlete of the Month awards, with the men earning the award 11 times and women's athletes receiving the award 10 times.

The CCCSIA/CCCAA Athlete of the Month program is coordinated by the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
