Playing their first game under new head coach Yvette Vascones, the Cerritos College women's soccer team looked to be in line to pick up a victory on Tuesday. The Falcons (0-1-0) took a 1-0 lead only to see Norco College score three times in the final 18 minutes to hand the team a 3-1 loss. Cerritos will now travel north for a pair of games, which will start on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Sierra College at Cosumnes River College.

The teams played a scoreless first half, with the Falcons getting on the board first when freshman Madelynn Jones (Liberty HS) finished off the play with 18:20 remaining on the clock by pushing a shot past Mustangs goalkeeper Valerie Martinez. On the play, sophomore Giselle Ramirez (Smidt Tech HS) fed Jones, who scored her first collegiate goal. But just a mere 1:14 later, the Falcons were called for a foul in the 18-yard box, which led to Mallory Rodriguez converting on her penalty kick past sophomore Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS).

Norco scored the eventual game-winning goal seven minutes later and then added an insurance goal with less than a minute remaining.

Jones had two of the team's six shots on goal.
