At the UNLV Invitational, Cerritos College sophomore Juanita Webster (Redlands HS) stood out over everyone else, as she came in first place with a school record 5399 points. Webster defeated 19 other athletes and broke the old school record of 5201 points set by Alexus Dalton at the 2016 state championships. Webster is also the defending CCCAA state champion in the heptathlon.

The Falcons will also compete on the third day of the Invitational with a full slate of events.

Webster started the first day of the two-day event with 3240 points and led Melanie Winters by 15 points. In the final three events on the second day, Webster pulled away from everyone and defeated Winters by 332 points. Along the way, she posted the second best high jump (1.73 meters) on the first day, which netted her 891 points.

She led from start to finish, which included earning 950 points in the first event, a time of 14.20 in the 100-meter high hurdles, which was followed by her stellar high jump. After the shot put, she capped off the first day with the second best time of the group in the 200 meters at 25.12.

Webster recorded a long jump of 5.81 meters to start the second day and pulled away from Winters with her 623-point javelin that went 37.70 meters. The heptathlon was capped by Webster running the 800 meters in 2:25.96, which was off her state championship time of 2:25.14 last year.

Also representing the Falcons in the heptathlon were freshman Michaela Banyi (Valencia HS), who came in ninth place with 4386 points, while Amani Briggs (Lakewood HS) and Davina Pham (Fountain Valley HS) finished in 14th (3961 points) and 15th places (3875), respectively.
