In the first of a busy week that includes three matches and a tournament, the Cerritos College volleyball team was swept by host Riverside City College on Wednesday. The Falcons (5-2) were defeated by the Tigers (6-1), 16-25, 18-25, 18-25 for their second loss in a row. The team will now travel to Fullerton College on Friday to take on Gavilan College at 1:00 p.m., followed by a 3:00 p.m. match against the Hornets. After that, the team will continue south to play in the San Diego City Tournament on Saturday.

Throughout the match, Cerritos really didn't have an answer for RCC's Lauren Wells, who recorded 13 kills in 24 attempts with no errors, while the Tiger hit at a .412 clip. Four Riverside players had at least seven kills, while the Falcons did their best to try and stay close.

Sophomore Nicole Spigner (La Mirada HS) led the team with nine kills and added five digs, while freshman Kayley Stephens (Cypress HS) finished with six kills. The tandem of sophomore Valerie Montoya (La Mirada HS) and freshman Monica Vega (South Gate HS) each had five kills, with sophomore setter Natalie Caravantes (Baldwin Park HS) recording 23 assists, to go along with four kills and five digs. Vega led the team with seven digs on the night.
