Women's cross country team places second at the Oxnard Invitational
Led by several strong performances, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in second place at the Oxnard Invitational. The Falcons, who had 83 team points, trailed only South Coast Conference rival Mt. San Antonio College. The team will in the SoCal Regional Invitational at El Dorado Park in Long Beach next Friday.
As one of only 11 runners to completed the 5K course in under 20 minutes, sophomore Megan Feitz (Fountain Valley HS) posted an eighth place time of 19:42.0 and held off a pair of runners to secure her top 10 finish. Next up was sophomore Samantha Martinez (Fountain Valley HS), who posted a time of 20:11.8, which per her in 13th place out of 85 total runners.
 
Next up for the Falcons was Evelyn Mejia (Norwalk HS), who was clocked in 20:36.3 for a 20th place finish, with Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS) the fourth runner to complete the course, as she was clocked in 21:12.4, which was good for 32nd place overall.
 
Rounding out the team scoring was Diana Perez (Norwalk HS), who had company from two of her teammates. Her time of 22:26.3 put her in 42nd place, with Leslie Juarez (Warren HS) finishing in 22:29.3 and Kimberly Ibarra (Warren HS) in 22:30.2, which placed them 43rd and 44th, respectively.
 
Also running on the day for Cerritos were Vanessa Rojas (Downey HS; 22:46.4; 48th place), Ariel Alvarez (Firebaugh HS; 22:48.9; 49th place), Lila Palmer (Long Beach Poly HS; 22:52.1; 52d place), Natalia Orta (Norwalk HS; 25:22.3; 67th place), Claudia Rios (Paramount HS; 26:03.3; 74th place) and Viviana Rodriguez (Santa Fe HS; 26:05.1; 75th place).
