For the second season in a row, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in ninth place at the 3C2A State Championships. Running at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday morning, the Falcons finished with 330 team points with 23 schools competing. The team also was the second best out of the schools from the South Coast Conference.

The first Cerritos runner to complete the 5K course was Megan Feitz (Fountain Valley HS), who posted a 19th place time of 19:11.25, as she held off two other runners who finished less than a second behind her. Although there was over a minute gap before the next Falcon runner completed the course, the final four runners all finished within a minute of each other.

Coming in 67th place out of 167 runners, Evelyn Mejia (Norwalk HS) posted a time of 20:33.36 and held off a trio of runners down the stretch. The Falcons blocked their runners well, which helped them finish in the top 10, as the final three runners who helped comprise the team scoring all finished within eight seconds of each other.

Finishing in 98th place overall, Delilah Chavez (Lakewood HS) was clocked in 21:19.00, with Diana Perez (Norwalk HS) and Kimberly Ibarra (Warren HS) finishing in 101st place and 102nd place, respectively. Perez was clocked in 21:25.32, with Ibarra touching up in 21:27.29. The Falcons team score of 300 points was just ahead of El Camino College (325) and San Bernardino Valley College (335), which made their grouping important to the team's finish.

Also running on the day for Cerritos were Vanessa Rojas (Downey HS), who came in 110th place in a time of 21:41.03 and Ariel Alvarez (Firebaugh HS), whose time of 21:41.34 placed her 111th overall.
