The father of head coach Nate Fernely, Bob "Pops" Fernley is now in his second season as a member of the Cerritos College staff. He spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach in the Warrior baseball program as the bench coach and provides a wealth of knowledge and experience.

A 5th Round draft choice of the Houston Astros in 1969 as a second basemen and third baseman, Fernley spent two years in the minor leagues playing for the Covington Astros in the Rookie League, as well as the AIL Mesa winter rookie league and the Williamsport Astros of the New York Penn League. He posted a career .274 batting average and drove in a career-high 21 runs in his final year in the minor leagues.

A Torrance native, Coach Fernley played at Torrance High School where he was league MVP and an All-CIF selection. Pops and his wife Wendy reside in Los Alamitos, while he has four children: Nate, Emily, Sam and Jeff.
