Starting his third season on the Cerritos College coaching staff, Brad Schwarzenbach was an All-South Coast Conference catcher for the Falcons in 2005-06. In addition to his catching duties, Schwarzenbach was also a pitcher and earned all-conference honorable mention honors in his sophomore year. A former player under head coach Ken Gaylord, Schwarzenbach is very familiar with the Falcon program and will instill that approach to this year’s team.

In his sophomore season with Cerritos, Schwarzenbach batted .263 with 13 RBI, while he was 2-5 on the mound with four saves and a 1.84 ERA. He was used primarily as a closer and posted 41 strikeouts in 44 innings. He was a .280 hitter as a freshman with one home run and 11 RBI at the plate, while he went 1-1 on the mound with six saves and a 1.86 ERA in 13 2/3 innings.

Schwarzenbach then moved on to Lewis & Clark State College where he focused on pitching and went 7-0 with a 2.54 ERA his junior season and struck out 60 batters in 56 2/3 innings. He underwent Tommy John surgery on his arm and missed the 2008 season. Schwarzenbach attempted to pitch in 2009 and struck out seven of the 12 batters he faced before ending his playing career.

Schwarzenbach spent the 2010 season as an assistant coach at Lewis & Clark State College working with the pitchers and handling other duties. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in the spring of 2010.
