Set to begin his fourth season (second full year) in his first collegiate head coaching assignment, Vic Buttler will have his first complete roster of both returning sophomores and incoming freshmen since he took over the coaching assignment. His first season was in 2020, which was halted due to Covid-19. With the majority of players set to return for the 2021 season, 13 of them ended up signing with four-year schools after the season was canceled. He is looking for a winning season in just his second full season and has compiled a 26-34-1 (.434) record.

A community college product, Buttler played for El Camino College in 2000 before getting drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. In a 10-year professional career, Buttler was a lifetime .280 hitter and reached the Pirates AAA level team, Indianapolis Indians. At one point, Buttler received a big-league training invitation.

A product of Westchester High, Buttler was an all-league, All-City and All-Area selection and was drafted in the 39th Round by the St. Louis Cardinals. He opted to transfer to El Camino College, where he was named an All-American and then drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 14th Round. The college inducted him into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.

For four seasons prior to coming to Cerritos, Buttler has served as the head coach at Westchester High, where his teams qualified for the LA City playoffs in three of the four seasons.

Buttler earned his Bachelors degree in Network and Communication Management from DeVry University in Long Beach in 2013 and then his Masters degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration fron Concordia (CA) University in 2017.

Buttler, 42 and his beautiful wife Andrea have two children and live in Carson.
