Now in his second season as the team’s offensive line coach is former Falcon All-State selection Michael Cardona. From 1991-92 Cardona was a member of the offensive line and earned 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore, as well as being named the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year. Cardona earned a scholarship to Purdue University, where he was a two-year starter and helped lead the Big Ten in rushing his senior season. That year, he blocked for Mike Alstott, who went on to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Additionally, Cardona earned the Red Mackey Award for dedication to the program, university and community.

From 2000-13, Cardona was the offensive line coach at La Mirada High and helped guide them to a CIF Championship, four championship appearances and 11 Suburban League titles. During his tenure, Cardona had 13 of his offensive lineman receive scholarships to such schools as UCLA, the University of Arizona, Northwestern University, University of California-Berkeley, University of Notre Dame, University of Alabama, University of Kansas, Army, Navy, Brigham Young University, New Mexico State University at the University of Nevada. Cardona started his coaching career in 1995 as a tight ends and offensive tackles coach at Orange Coast College.

Cardona prepped at La Mirada High, where he was a two-time All-CIF, All-Los Angeles Times, All-Press Telegram, USA Today Best in the West, Cal-Hi Sports All-State and Whittier Daily News All-Decade Team.

Cardona earned his Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in 2014 and his Bachelor’s degree in Movement and Sports Science from Purdue University in 1995. Cardona, 42, and his wife Amy have two children - Caitlyn (16) and Nathan (13) and reside in Fullerton.
