In his first year on the coaching staff, Whittington has coached at both the community college and high school levels. He began his coaching career at Frederick Douglas High in Los Angeles as their defensive coordinator before spending 2010-14 as the defensive backs coach at Inglewood High. Additionally, he coached at Mayfair High from 2015-20 as a defensive backs coach and also coached at Fullerton College and Dorsey High.

Whittington prepped at Mayfair High, where he was an outside linebacker and then transferred to Compton College, where he was their quarterback for one game and then moved to strong safety.

Whittington, 32, resides in Bellflower and has one daughter – Skye (8).
