In the battle for second place in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, the Cerritos College men's tennis team traveled to College of the Desert on Tuesday and posted a 7-2 victory. The win improved the Falcons overall record to 5-2, while they are now 2-1 in conference play. The team will host Riverside City College in a non-conference match at noon on Friday.

Cerritos secured a strong 3-0 team scoring lead after sweeping through doubles and then finished off the Eagles (7-3, 1-1) by winning five of the six singles matches.

The top doubles team of freshmen Arthur Bellegy (Lycée Molière, France HS) and Vincent Bonsergent (Lycée Technologique Val de Saône, France HS) improved to 3-2 as a pairing with their 8-1 victory, with sophomore Saar Rogovski (Menacham Begin, Israel HS) and freshman Michael Doria (La Serna HS) posting an 8-3 win, They are now 3-1 as a doubles pair. The sweep concluded with freshman Luke Andrews (Columbine, CO HS) and sophomore Edson Pinzon (Warren HS) teaming up for the first time this year and earned an 8-4 win.

Stepping into the singles lineup, freshmen Brendan Harden (Lakewood HS) and Jacob Miles (La Serna HS) each swept their matches in the final two spots of the ladder, while Rogovsky came away with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the #2 position. Bellegy defeated Fermin Blando, who had to retire with Bellgy leading, 6-4, 4-0 in the top spot on the ladder. Doria played in the longest match of the day, but held on for a 6-1, 6-7, 13-11 win over Julian Valencia in his first match of the season playing in the #3 position on the singles ladder.
