Cerritos College Track & Feld (2014): Placed third in the 1500 meters (3:58.05) and sixth in the 800 meters (1:54.30) at the CCCAAA State Championships… Won the Southern California championship in the 800 meters and came in second place in the 1500 meters after winning the South Coast Conference title in both events… Also competed in the 3000 meters (9:00.20) and 5000 meters (15:21.07)…..

Cerritos College Cross Country (2014): Led the team at the CCCAA State Championships with a 12th place finish in a time of 20:36.2, while his time of 20:25.1 earned him a seventh place at the Southern California Championships… Was the fifth place finisher at the South Coast Conference Championships in a time of 20:58.2 and he took fourth place with a time of 27:44.5 at the Grand Canyon Invitational… Posted a time of 20:54.4 to come in 16th place at the Golden West Invitational, while he was clocked in 20:47.8 to finish in 30th place at the Southern California Preview Meet… Earned 30th place at the Fresno Invitational in 21:48.7 and was sixth at the Mark Covert Open in 27:06.7…..

Cerritos College Cross Country (2013): Helped the team come in fourth place at the CCCAA State Championships by coming in 45th place overall in a time of 21:19.59, while his time of 22:05.39 put him in 39th place at the Southern California Championships, as the team finished in eighth place… Came in ninth place at the South Coast Conference Championships for the second place Falcons with a time of 20:42 and posted a time of 26:43.33 to place 21st at the UCLA Double Dual… Posted a time of 22:03.50 to come in 18th place at the San Diego Invitational, while his time of 21:00 put him in 20th place at the Lou Vasquez Invitational… Placed 14th at the Palomar Invitational in a time of 22:33…..

Katella HS: Voted his team’s Most Valuable Distance Runner as a senior and junior, while he received the school’s Knight of the Year his senior season… Won the Orange League championship in the 1600 meters… Competed in the 400 meters (52.0), 800 meters (1:56), 1600 meters (4:24) and 3200 meters (10:10)… Named his team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore… Posted a personal best time of 15:44 at the Woodbridge Invitational while on the cross country team… Spent four seasons on the track and field and cross country teams…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was when he won the league title in the 1600 meters… Is working on a minor in history… Would like to transfer to either Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or UCLA… Hobbies include reading and cooking… His father was a boxer, distance runner, swimmer and soccer player while in the Mexican Army… Has five siblings – Vanessa (25), Alonso (24), Brenda (22), Erik (19) and Milly (16)… Is the son of Javier Ortiz… Born in Durango, Mexico on April 4, 1994…..
