Cerritos College Men’s Cross Country (2017): Posted a time of 22:43.3 at the CCCAA State Championships to come in 129th place, while he finished in 62nd place at the Southern California Championships with a clocking of 22:34.2… Came in 19th place with a time of 22:20.2 at the South Coast Conference Championships, and ran the Mt. San Antonio Invitational in a time of 22:45.0 to finish in 42nd place… Took 52nd place in 29:00.4 at the Triton Classic, while his time of 20:29 put him in 27th place at the UNLV Invitational… Posted a 91st place time of 23:12.1 at the SoCal Preview Meet, while he finished in 61st place in 22:36.1 at the Fresno Invitational… Came in 38th place at the Redlands Invitational with a time of 22:04.36…..

Western HS: As a member of the track and field team, he was ranked among the Top 3 runners in Orange County and was a CIF Masters Qualifier… Placed fourth at the CIF Championships in the 800 meters and ran a leg of the 1600-meter relay team… Also a CIF Masters qualifier… Won the Empire League championship in both events, while he was a CIF Qualifier in the 800 meters his junior year after winning the league title… Posted personal best times in the 400 meters (51.0), 800 meters (1:56.39) and 1600 meters (4:30.0)… Named the Mid-Distance Most Valuable Player… Posted a personal best time of 16:17 at the Woodbridge Invitational as a senior on the cross country team and was named their Most Valuable Player… Was coached by former Cerritos cross country and track star Munir Kahssay…..

Personal: Most memorable moments were when he ran his personal best time in the 800 meters at the CIF Masters Meet and when he broke the 2:00 mark in the 800 meters for the first time… Is working on a minor in physics and would like to transfer to either UC Irvine or UCLA… Is studying to be an engineer… Hobbies include music and video editing, traveling and photography… Nicknamed “Chava”… Has three siblings – Angie (21), Gabby (16) and Melanie (8)… Is the son of Gabriel and Rosario Chavarria… Born in Orange, CA on July 7, 1999…..
