Beginning his fourth season (no season was held in 2021 due to Covid-19) on the Cerritos College softball coaching staff, Josh Musselman, spent the 2019 season as a member of the University of Antelope Valley softball coaching staff. Prior to that, he served as the head coach at Sterling (KS) College from 2013-16.

During his tenure at Sterling, Musselman oversaw and directed all aspects of the softball program, including the hiring and supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling for both the varsity and JV programs, budget preparation, recruiting, developing camps and clinics, purchasing and allocating funds for the program, scouting, strength and condition plans, and in-game tactical and technical management.

Under his direction, Sterling’s softball program finished with a team GPA above 3.0 three out of his last four semesters, and on the field, the team thrived offensively, finishing in the top 10 in the NAIA in multiple categories during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Prior to coaching at Sterling, Musselman was an assistant coach at Utah Valley University.  At Utah Valley, he assisted with offensive production and was the top recruiter for the program. Seven of the athletes that he coached won All-Pacific Coast Softball Conference honors while the team set the school record for wins at the Div. I level and the school record for highest RPI.

Before his stint at Utah Valley, he was the head softball coach at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, where he coached the team to a No. 8 ranking in the ESPN Powerade Fab 50, a national poll, and the No. 1 ranking in Orange County.  Fourteen of his players signed to play collegiate softball. During his tenure at Edison, Musselman coached Team USA member Jessica Plaza and 2014 NFCA Div. I All-America 2nd Team member, Karley Wester.

Musselman collected collegiate head coaching experience at Pasadena City College, and while at the helm of the program, his squad established the highest GPA for a softball team since 2006.

During the 2010 season, he was an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount University where he served as the primary hitting coach for the NCAA Div. I school.  While at LMU, he coached 2012 USA Softball Women's National Team member Sam Fischer.

Musselman has an additional five years of collegiate coaching experience with stops at NCAA Div. II schools Sonoma State University and California State University of San Bernardino and experience in the NAIA as an assistant with California Baptist University where he helped recruit five future NAIA All-Americans.

He has international coaching experience as well, coaching for USA Athletes International and representing the United States as a head coach in Aruba, 2006, the Netherlands, 2007, and Czech Republic, 2009.

Musselman graduated from Antioch University of Los Angeles BA in 2007 in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Creative Writing and went on to earn his Master's Degree from Concordia University, Irvine in Coaching and Athletics and Administration in 2011.

Musselman, 52 resides in Seal Beach and has two children, Prometheus (11) and Gaia (9).
