Former two-time All-American heavyweight Jesse Gomez returns to Cerritos College as a member of the coaching staff. From 2014-15, Gomez posted a combined 54-8 record, placed reached the championship match at the CCCAA State Championships two seasons in a row and won the Southern California championship his sophomore season. He was also a member of the 2014 CCCAA State Championship team.

Gomez then transferred to Missouri Valley College, where he was a two-time All-American and was an Academic All-American as a junior. He placed fifth at the National Championships his junior season and came in third place his senior year.

A product of Buena Park High, Gomez was a two-time CIF Champion, qualified for the State Tournament twice and won a pair of league championships. He was the Freeway League Most Valuable Player and was named All-County twice.

Gomez, 26, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Missouri Valley College in 2020 and resides in Fullerton.
