Entering his second season as part of the coaching staff, Josh Brown, was a two-time All-American for Cerritos and won the 3C2A State Championship in 2018 at 141 pounds and went 25-0. In his freshman season, Brown placed fourth at 133 pounds and finished with a 19-6 record.
Brown then transferred to Cal State Bakersfield, where he competed for the Roadrunners for three seasons. He went 11-7 as a junior in 2020 and followed that up by going 22-17 as a red-shirt junior in 2022 and finished sixth at the Pac-12 Championships. As a red-shirt senior, Brown went 17-15 at 149 pounds, while he was named their Team Captain for his final two years.
As a high school athlete at Esperanza High, Brown was a state qualifier his senior, Masters Meet qualifier as a junior and CIF qualifier his sophomore season. He earned All-American honors his senior season after placing fifth at the Masters Meet and won the Century League championship two years in a row, while also serving as their captain for two years.
Brown started his coaching career as a youth coach from 2020-22 at South Torrance High, while he spent 2022-23 at his high school alma mater and helped them win the league championship. He is also currently serving as a youth head coach at Kings MMA.
Brown earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cal State Bakersfield in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Courts and a minor in Public Relations in 2022.
Brown, 27 and his wife Sarah have been married for a year and reside in Anaheim.
