After a non-conference schedule that included four tournaments and enough injuries to last an entire season, the Cerritos College men's basketball team will now embark on their South Coast Conference schedule. The Falcons (6-9) finished up their tournament schedule by winning one of three games at the Allan Hancock Tournament. After a 59-49 win over Cuesta College in the opening round, Cerritos dropped decisions to both Fresno City College (62-53) and Bakersfield College (57-45). They will open conference play on January 7 with a 7:00 p.m. game at Los Angeles Harbor College.

Cerritos vs. Cuesta: The Falcons jumped out early against the Cougars by scoring the game's first seven points and went on to hold a 31-17 advantage at intermission. Cuesta got as close as 52-45 with 4:26 left in the game, but consecutive baskets from sophomore Jeff Gonzalez (Riverside Poly HS/Riverside City College) and freshman Jonathan Brown (Fairfax HS), followed by a three-pointer from Jay Merriweather (Temescal Canyon HS), put the game out of reach. Gonzalez led the team with 15 points and 13 rebounds, with freshman Jamal Watson (Lakewood HS) accounting for 12 points off the bench. Freshman Earl Morgan (Dominguez HS) also pitched in with nine points off the bench, as the Falcons recorded 27 bench points in the win.

Cerritos vs. Fresno City: Shooting woes hurt the Falcons in their loss to the Rams, as they only netted 33% of their field goals. A nine-point run in the first half allowed Cerritos to take a 21-9 lead, with Merriweather and Gonzalez each hitting three-pointers. Fresno closed the gap to 24-21 by halftime and fought back from a 39-33 game with 14:24 left to eventually pull ahead, 40-39 with 12:50 remaining. Cerritos could not regain the lead, despite 15 points from sophomore Micah Winn (Westchester HS) and 13 points from Gonzalez. Fresno out-rebounded Cerritos, 37-23, with 44 of their points coming in the paint.

Cerritos vs. Bakersfield: Perimeter defense was a factor once again in the team's loss, with the Renegades scoring 24 of their 57 points in the paint. Cerritos received a three-point play from freshman Anthony Lefeau (Orange Lutheran HS) and a three-pointer from Brown in the first half to take an 18-15 lead in the first half. Bakersfield regained the lead before the end of the half and led the rest of the way. Lefeau led the Falcons with 15 points off the bench, but the team recorded only 14 rebounds on the night. Sophomore Taylor Douglas (Mayfair HS) finished with seven points, with Brown and Gonzalez each scoring five points.
