It was a long scoring drought in the first half that hurt the Cerritos College men's basketball team in their 83-67 loss to Pasadena City College at The Aviary on Friday night. The Falcons (9-14) scored just five points in the final 7:40 and trailed, 37-28 at intermission. They fell behind by as many as 18 points in the second half and never recovered. Cerritos will now travel to Compton to take on ECC Compton Center at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

For the Lancers (10-12), it was Jonathan Henderson that hurt Cerritos, as he drained a trio of three-pointers and scored 13 of his team-high 19 points in the first half. PCC had four players score in double-figures and each time the Falcons looked to trim their deficit to under 10 points, they hit a shot that slowed their momentum. Pasadena City went to the free throw line 30 times in the second half and converted 23 of them, which helped them hold off the Falcons.

Sophomore Micah Winn (Crenshaw HS) made a valiant effort to keep the team close, scoring 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half. It was a nine-point game (73-64) with 1:25 left in the game after freshman Anthony Lefeau (Orange Lutheran HS) scored on a layup. But that's as close as they could get, with the Lancers netting their final 10 free throws attempts to seal the win.

Freshman Cristian Perez (Santa Fe HS) came off the bench to score 11 points, while freshman guard Jonathan Brown (Fairfax HS) added 10 points, five assists and three rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Douglas (Mayfair HS) contributed seven points off the bench for Cerritos.
