After completing an unbeaten regular season, where they captured their second straight South Coast Conference South Division title, the Cerritos College men's soccer team has been seeded #1 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (16-0-5) are the only team in the post-season to receive a first round bye and will host the winner of the #8-seeded Rio Hondo College game against #9-seeded Santa Monica College, who will play on Saturday. The second round game will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22.

Cerritos faced Rio Hondo, who's a part of the North Division of the conference, back on October 20 and defeated them, 3-0 in Whittier. The Falcons have not faced Santa Monica this season. The Corsairs came in second place in the Western State Conference North Division, with the Roadrunners coming in third place in the SCC North Division.

The Falcons are led by sophomore Luis Garcia (La Habra HS), who ranks fourth in the state with 16 goals, while his 38 points also puts him in fourth in the state. Freshman Christian Perez (Paramount HS) has added nine goals, with sophomore Oscar Canela (Paramount HS) accounting for eight goals on the year. Cerritos has has 12 players score goals on the season and have received steady play from a multitude of players. Sophomore Guy Carven (National Haitian Student Alliance) has been a game-changer at midfield, while the defense allows less than a goal per game. Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Aldama (North Torrance HS) is 10-0-5 on the year with an 0.58 goals against average, while sophomore Hernan Perez (Pioneer HS) has not allowed a goal in his seven games and is 6-0-0 on the year.

Rio Hondo has been paced by Moses Gutierrez, who leads with seven goals, with three others scoring four times. Goalkeeper Jose Paredes has posted an 0.96 goals against average and has made 81 saves. For the Corsairs, Carlos Rincon leads them with 10 goals, with Andy Naidu contributing seven goals and six assists this season. In net, Jesus Alcazar (0.67 GAA) has started most of the game, although Marek Strzelczyk has appeared in 18 games.
