The Cerritos College men's track and field team kicked off their 2013 season by competing in the Mt. San Antonio Season Opener on Friday. The Falcons sent an abbreviated squad, but still had some strong finishes, especially in the field events. The team will now host the Cerritos Invitational this weekend.

Sophomore Dionbrea Norris (Long Beach Millikan HS) won the long jump with a distance of 6.80 meters, while freshman Adam Aguirre came in second place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.90 meters. Freshman thrower Bobby Villegas (Bell Gardens HS) saw his throw of 12.02 meters put him in second place in the shot put, while his distance of 35.15 meters in the discus earned him a third place. Freshman Joe Leonard (El Rancho HS) also competed in the same events and finished fifth in both with distances of 11.62 meters in the shot put and 35.02 in the discus. Leonard also finished in third place in the hammer throw, by posting a toss of 37.75 meters.

In the running events, freshman Aaron Martin (Carson HS) turned in a time of 16.51 to finish in fifth place in the 110-meter high hurdles, while Jarrett Moreno came in sixth place in the 400 meters in 53.42. The 400-meter relay team of Raul Muniz, Moreno, freshman Jake Ostgaard (La Mirada HS) and freshman Victor Borrayo (Bell HS) recorded a time of 46.57 to come in second place.
