Continuing their fast start to the 2016 season, the Cerritos College men's water polo team opened South Coast Conference play with a 17-4 win on Wednesday over Rio Hondo College. The Falcons (5-1, 1-0) will now compete in the Golden West Tournament on Friday and take on Citrus College and Palomar College.

In the win over the Roadrunners, nine different Cerritos players scored, led by sophomore Angel Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela), who scored six times and also recorded nine steals. His brother Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) posted five assists and three steals in helping the Falcons post the big win.

The trio of freshmen Kameron Simmons (Evanston Township, IL HS), Salvador Orozco and Ever Resendiz (Colegio de Bachilleres 6, Mexico) all scored a pair of goals, with sophomore Anthony Govani (Garden Grove HS) finishing with four steals in the win.

The freshmen goalkeeping pairing of Matthew Contreras (Montebello HS) and Jason Curiel (El Rancho HS) combined for seven saves and four steals for Cerritos. The offense also converted all of their 6-on-5 advantages.
