Facing host Mt. San Antonio College in their South Coast Conference match, the Cerritos College beach volleyball team came out on the short end of a 3-2 decision. The Falcons (8-5, 0-2) will look to snap their two-match losing skid next Friday when they host Long Beach City and the Los Angeles Harbor Club next Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Rosie's Dark Park in Long Beach.

In facing the Mounties (9-6, 2-0), Cerritos won the match at the #2 position on the ladder and picked up a three-set victory in the #5 spot. They looked to extend the #4 match, but the duo of sophomore Abby Gutierrez (Downey HS) and Aiyana Sierra (La Mirada HS) came up short, 12-21, 19-21.

The Falcons did lock down an impressive win by the #2 tandem of Rosie Cazaras-Gonzalez (El Rancho HS) and Monserrat Rodriguez (Gahr HS), who improved to 4-1 in that position on the ladder after a 21-16, 21-9 win. Also advancing their season record to 4-1 in the #5 spot, the pairing of Herlinda Casanova (St. Joseph HS) and Juliette Casillas (La Serna HS) battled back after losing the first set, 19-21. They picked up a tough 21-17 win in the second set and completed the comeback with a 15-10 win in the third set.
