On Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team won their ninth game in a row, as they defeated Chaffey College, 15-6. It was the second win in five days over the Panthers (5-6, 1-1). The South Coast Conference victory improves the Falcons record to 15-4 overall, while they are currently in first place in the conference with a 3-0 mark. The team will compete this weekend at the Riverside City Tournament and open with an 11:30 a.m. game against Orange Coast College. Last week, Cerritos defeated the Pirates, 9-8 in a tight battle to the finish.

The Falcons jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first period, with freshman Seamus MacDonald (Long Beach Millikan HS) accounting for three of those goals. The scoring would end up spreading out, as eight different players picked up at least one goal. It was a 9-4 game at intermission, with Cerritos getting things started in the second half, as MacDonald, along with sophomores Brian Luque-Gutierrez (Salazar y Herrera, Colombia) and Mateo Fernandez (St. John Bosco HS) each scoring to build the lead to 12-5 with just one quarter remaining.

MacDonald finished with a team-high four goals, with the quartet of Luque-Gutierrez, sophomore Kevin Elizarraraz (Buena Park HS), along with freshmen Mario Vanzillotta (Colegio Palas, Brazil) and Juan Anguiano (Kennedy HS) each posting a pair of goals. Luque-Gutierrez also assisted on four goals, while sophomore Nik Klimpfinger (Los Alamitos HS) accounted for three assists. Defensively, Rodrigo Baca (Kennedy HS) and John Gomez (La Serna HS) each recorded three steals, with the goalie duo of Zachary Jenkins (La Serna HS) and Nate Pineda (La Mirada HS) combining to make 12 saves,
