Long Beach Poly HS: Came in fifth place at the state championships as a junior… Spent four years on the cross country and track and field teams… Was a two-time All-Moore League selection and his team’s Distance Track Most Valuable Player on the track team… Helped them win a pair of league championships… Competed in the 800 meters (1:59.0), 1600 meters (4:25) and 3200 meters (9:50)…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was when he ran a leg of the 4x800-meter relay team that won the Arcadia Invitational… Hobbies include art and music… Nicknamed “Zach”… Has four siblings – Karla (23), Julianna (21), Jorge (15) and Angela (12)… Is the son of Efrain and Laura Ponce… Born in Tijuana, Mexico on February 3, 1996…..
