With some of the top teams from Southern California running in the Manny Bautista XC Invitational in San Diego on Friday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team posted a seventh place result. The Falcons finished with 180 team points and just missed out on jumping over sixth place Saddleback College, who finished with 175 team points. Next Saturday, the team will travel north to run in the Bronco Invitational, which will take place at Baylands Park in Santa Clara.

The four-mile course saw freshman Tyler Villanueva (Warren HS) take first place for Cerritos, as his time of 21:35.1 put him in 33rd place out of 179 total runners. He was paret of a pack of eight runners that crossed the finish line within six seconds of each other. With so many runners on the course at the same time, there were multiple packs of runners in a sprint to finish the race as quickly as possible. Joshua Melendez (Santa Fe HS) was the next Falcon to finish, with his time of 22:00.9 putting him in 43rd place and was edged out of 42nd place by .01 of a second.

Next to complete the course for Cerritos was Noah Addison (Long Beach Poly HS), as his time of 22:19.9 was good for 56th place, with five runners finishing within two seconds of each other. Luke Dias (Fountain Valley HS) wasn't too far behind, as his 60th place time was clocked in 22:24.7, with Jacob Cosio (California HS) closing out the team scoring with his 70th place time of 22:52.6.

Eleven other runners competed on the day for the Falcons and they included Edwin Matias (Bell Gardens HS; 23:03.2; 75th place), Matthew Alvarez (Warren HS; 23:17.5; 84th place), Ben Ramos (California HS; 23:23.5; 87th place), Joseph Melendez (St. Paul HS; 23:48.7; 94th place), Jeff Chmiel (Lakewood HS; 23:55.8; 97th place), David Morales (El Rancho HS; 24:19.6; 106th place), Marcus Hughes (Carson HS; 24:21.0; 107th place), Angel Serrano (Legacy HS; 25:08.6; 119th place), Shanal De Silva (Warren HS; 25:23.4; 123rd place), Justin Smith (Lakewood HS; 25:52.1; 128th place) and Jose Ortiz (Norwalk HS; 26:26.4; 133rd place).
