Facing host Pasadena City College in a make-up game from January 10, the Cerritos College women's basketball team registered a 74-60 South Coast Conference crossover win on Wednesday night. The win improves the Falcons record to 9-13 on the year and it was the second win in a row over the Lancers after dropping five in a row to PCC. The team will resume divisional play on Friday when they travel to Compton College for a 5:00 p.m. game.

After a back and forth first half, Cerritos opened a five-point lead (39-34) after a three-point play from freshman Lauryn Nakamura (Cypress HS). A pair of three-pointers from sophomore Jayden Estrada (Anaheim HS), as well as a bucket from freshman Mia Avalos (Pioneer HS) closed out the third quarter with the Falcons opening up a 49-40 lead, their largest of the night.

Estrada started the fourth quarter with a pair of free throws to give Cerritos their first double-digit lead at 51-40. Cerritos held off every Lancer attempt to get back in the game and had an answer for every one of their baskets.

Still limited to just six healthy players, the Falcons received 21 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals from Nakamura, while Estrada ended the game with 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in the win. Freshman Jazzmin Briggs (Lakewood HS) came off the bench and pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds to compliment her eight points, while freshman Natalie Poppin (La Habra HS) added 12 points and four rebounds. Avalos also checked in with five points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals, while sophomore Francine Carrillo (Cerritos HS) recorded eight points and five rebounds.
