In her third season as an assistant coach on the Falcons swimming team, Gabayeron still holds school record in three individual races and swam a leg of two relay teams. During her freshman season in 2012, Gabayeron set the school record in the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.64), 1000-yard freestyle (10:59.20) and 1650-yard freestyle (18:28.42). Additionally, Gabayeron swam a leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.11) and 200-yard medley relay (1:52.81) in her sophomore year.

She helped the Falcons come in 11th place at the CCCAA State Championships in 2013 and earned All-American honors in six events (three individual and three relay) and came in fifth place at the state championships in the 500-yard freestyle ad ninth place in the 200-yard IM. In her freshman season, Gabayeron earned All-American honors by coming in second place at the CCCAA State Championships in the 500-yard freestyle, sixth in the 200-yard IM and ninth in the 200-yard freestyle after winning the South Coast Conference championship in all three events.

As a member of the Cerritos water polo team, she was named All-American and All-State as a sophomore, while Gabayeron was named All-Southern California her freshman season and was a two-time 1st Team All-South Coast Conference selection. She finished her career with 138 goals (fourth most at the time), which included 91 goals as a sophomore and during her freshman year, was named the college’s Freshman Athlete of the Year.

A product of Cerritos High, Gabayeron was named the school’s Athlete of the Year as a senior after earning 1st Team All-CIF, 1st Team All-San Gabriel Valley League and was voted her team’s Most Valuable Player in water polo. As a junior, she was named the CIF Player of the Year, while leading them to two CIF championships. As a member of their swimming team, Gabayeron was four-time CIF Finals Qualifier and named the team’s MVP two years in a row and led both teams to four straight league championships.

After graduating from Cerritos, Gabayeron moved on to the University of Hawaii, where she spent two seasons on their water polo team. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in History.
