Competing at the Tennessee Challenge over the weekend, former Cerritos College women's track and field state champion Imani Jones took part in two events for Auburn University. The junior jumper placed 11th in the long jump and did not record a distance in the triple jump due to fouls. She will now prepare to compete in the Southeast Conference (SEC) Championships in two weeks at Texas A&M University.

Imani Jones long jumping at the Tennessee Challenge Jones was the lone entry from Auburn in both events for the meet, which was just her third meet of the season. She opened the outdoor track season by posting a personal best on the long jump (5.93 meters) to place third in the Tiger Track Classic. Jones had previously been entered into two meets running both the 200 meters and 400 meters.

During the indoor season earlier in the year, Jones finished 14th in the long jump and 13th in the triple jump at the SEC Championships.

While competing for the Falcons during her sophomore season in 2019, Jones won the state championship in the long jump (5.86 meters), while taking second in the triple jump (12.01 meters). She qualified as the fifth place finisher in the long jump at the Southern California Championships, but responded with what was her personal best distance the following week at the state championships. As a freshman, Jones won the state championship, Southern California championship and South Coast Conference championship in the triple jump, which was an impressive feat, considering she had never competed in the event before.

Additionally, Jones didn't compete in the long jump as a freshman, but concluded her Falcon career by winning the state championship in the event. The Falcons won the team state championship both seasons.
