Led by sophomore Rebecca Harris (Buena Park HS), the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational on Saturday. Running the same three-mile course the Falcons will compete on in two weeks at the South Coast Conference Championships, Harris placed 10th overall out of 125 entries with a time of 19:37.4. She pulled ahead of a pack of about six runners to finish in the top 10. As a team, Cerritos finished with 120 team points and trailed only the host Mounties, who won the meet with 27 team points. Northern California power Hartnell College took second place with 86 points, while Pima (AZ) College compiled 111 points to finish in third. The Falcons finished ahead of three other conference schools out of the 14 total that entered a team.

After the finish by Harris, the next Falcon runner to finish the course was freshman Tyler Simpson (Dominguez HS), who turned in a 18th place time of 20:03.8, which sandwiched her between a pair of Mt. SAC runners, as they finished within one second of each other. Also running a strong race on the day for Cerritos was sophomore Giselle Burgos (El Rancho HS), as her time of 20:37.7 put her in 24th place overall, while freshman Alejandra De La O (Norwalk HS) was four seconds behind and placed 30th overall with her clocking of 20:41.8.

Rounding out the top five runners who built the team scoring was freshman Jessica Ayala (Cabrillo HS), who took 59th place overall with a time of 22:10.9. She led a pack of five runners that finished within three seconds of each other.

Also competing for the Falcons on the day were Debora Lopez-Guzman (Gahr HS; 22:54.3; 77th place), Jaime Monaco (Long Beach Poly HS; 22:58.7; 79th place), Gaby Mendoza (Schurr HS; 23:00.4; 80th place) and Raquel Calderon (Long Beach Poly HS; 24:11.9; 97th place).
