If it weren't for Cerritos College shooting guard Riley Hamilton, the Cerritos College men's basketball team wouldn't have had a chance to advance to the CCCAA State Championships. Hamilton drained a long distance three-pointer at the buzzer in the 2nd Round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs to give the Falcons a 76-75 triple overtime win over Riverside City College. The team would eventually see their season come to an end in the state semifinals, but Hamilton was able to pique the interest of Tuskegee (AL) University, who signed him to a National Letter of Intent.
An All-South Coast Conference South Division honorable mention selection, Hamilton averaged 8.2 points and 3.3 rebounds, while converting 46% of his field goals, 39% from three point range and 82% of his free throws on the season. He posted a 22-point game against Compton College, while recording 20 points against College of the Canyons. That three-pointer against Riverside City to win the game was his lone basket from beyond the arch. Hamilton also hit a game-winning three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to defeat Antelope Valley College in the semifinals of the Clete Adelman Classic. He also hauled in a season-high nine rebounds against Los Angeles Harbor College and had eight caroms against Rio Hondo College.
Hamilton will help the Tigers improve on a 7-22 season, which saw them drop a 73-62 score in the first round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Tournament. Tuskegee will look to Hamilton to contribute some scoring, as well as rebounding and solid defense, which are all attributes he possesses and displayed for two seasons with the Falcons.
He is the fourth Falcon player to sign with a four-year school, joining Jonathan Guzman (Hope International University) and Jason Carter (Lindsey Wilson (KY) College) from this past season, as well as Brian Nebo (San Francisco State), who played for Cerritos from 2015-17.
