Over the last two days, four members of the Cerritos College men's track and field team competed at the Southern California Decathlon Championships at Mt. San Antonio College. The top finisher for the Falcons was freshman Anthony Hines (Long Beach Poly HS), who placed 10th out of 17 entries with 5057 total points. He was joined by Luke Johnson (Paramount HS), who finished in 12th place with 4666 points, George Flores (Downey HS) in 13th place with 4541 points and Jacob Begay (Long Beach Jordan HS), whose 4434 points put him in 15th place.

Hines saved his best for last, as he finished in third place in the 1500 meters, which netted him 660 points and moved him ahead of Riverside City College's Xavier Harvey in the final standings, as he only collected 453 points in the race. He also eclipsed the 600-point mark in the 110-meter HH (646 points), with his fifth place time of 16.79, while his clocking of 54.17 in the 400 meters earned him 633 and placed him 11th on the day.

As for Flores, he had a pair of 700-point performances over the two-day event, which included coming in fourth place in the 400 meters with a time of 51.46, good for 749 points. In the 100 meters, Flores started the competition with 717 points after a ninth place time of 11.67. Johnson capped off the championships with his best point production, as he picked up 604 points for his fifth place time in the 1500 meters at 4:52.40, while Begay earned his best point production in the 110-meter HH with an 11th place time of 17.69, good for 554 points.
