As the season continues to progress, the Cerritos College men's track and field team continues to go up against four-year colleges at invitationals. The latest was the Vince O'Boyle Invitational at UC Irvine on Friday. The Falcons will now send their decathletes to the Southern California Decathlon Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday at Mt. San Antonio College.
In the 5000 meters, freshman Joshua Melendez (St. Paul HS) recorded a personal best time of 15:07.38, which put him in fourth place out of 21 entries on the day, while the 4x100-meter relay team recorded one of their better times of the year. The quartet of Elijah Jones (Long Beach Jordan HS), Sebastian Lopez (Downey HS), Te'Quan Chatman (Fort Myers, FL HS) and Jordan Crowdus (Cabrillo HS) finished in second place with a time of 42.15.
The 4x400-meter relay team also had a good day, as the foursome of Crowdus, Caleb Dunomes (Long Beach Poly HS), Konnor Handy (St. John Bosco HS) and Jones turned in a time of 3:18.28, which put them in fourth place.
