M. Cross Country: Team places seventh at Golden West Invite

Holding out their top seven runners, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in seventh place at the Golden West Invitational on Friday. The Falcons compiled 257 team points and saw three South Coast Conference teams finish ahead of them. They will now run in the San Diego Invitational at Mission Bay Park on Friday.

The first Cerritos runner to complete the four-mile course was freshman Donaldo Lopez (Gahr HS), who placed 44th out of 174 runners with a time of 21:47.73, while sophomore Joel Perez (Long Beach Wilson HS) wasn't far behind and placed 48th when he crossed the finish line in 21:52.61. The next block of runners finished nine seconds apart, which concluded the team scoring, with freshman Eric Sanchez (Katella HS) taking 64th overall in 22:07.61, with sophomore Steven Hernandez (Kennedy HS) right behind in 22:11.11 for 68th place. Sophomore David Pleitez (Lakewood HS) finished in 22:16.73 to place 73rd on the day.

Also running for the team were Paul Mora (Whittier HS; 79th place; 22:25.35), Ramiro Santana (Warren HS; 82nd place; 22:29.52), Anthony Lozano (La Serna HS; 102nd place; 23:13.68), Jarrett Moreno (St. Anthony HS; 139th place; 24:37.29), George Robinson (144th place; 24:57.72), Kyle Calderon (Kennedy HS; 152nd place; 25:41.69) and Daniel Eckhoff (Western HS; 159th place; 26:39.48).
