M. Cross Country: Team takes second place

For the second week in a row, the Cerritos College men's cross country finished in second place behind American River College. Last week, the Falcons were defeated by American River at the SoCal Preview Meet, while the trailed the same team on Thursday at the Lou Vasquez Invitational in San Francisco. Cerritos comprised a combined time of 103:12, with the Beavers winning the meet with a combined time of 101:19. The race consisted of 13 schools and 134 entries. Next Friday, the team will run in the Golden West Invitational at Central Park in Huntington Beach.

Sophomore Jonathan Bazinet (California HS) and freshman Joshua Roldan finished with the exact same time of 20:27 to come in seventh and eighth places, respectively. Not far behind was freshman Omar Torres (Warren HS), who finished the course in a time of 20:36 to come in 11th place. But by the time Torres had finished, four American River runners had completed the race, with the fifth runner just four second behind. Close by was sophomore Elvis Salinas (Norwalk HS) in 15th place at 20:44, while freshman Anthony Lozano (La Serna HS) rounded out the top five with a time of 20:58 for 18th place.

Also competing for the Falcons were Francisco Ortiz (Katella HS; 20th place; 21:00), Chris Ramirez (California HS; 48th place; 21:49), Joel Perez (Long Beach Wilson HS; 56th place; 22:09), Steven Hernandez (Kennedy HS; 60th place; 22:19) and Jorge Ayala (Artesia HS; 96th place; 23:40).
