Working on their time-blocking, the Cerritos College men's cross country team came in third place at the San Diego Invitational on Friday. The Falcons, who saw their first through fifth runners finish within :26 seconds of each other, compiled 67 team points and were only beat out by Orange Coast College (38 team points) and San Diego Mesa College, who had 66 team points. The team will now run in the UCLA Dual Meet, which will be held at the Brookside Golf Course at the Rose Bowl. It will be their final meet until they compete in the South Coast Conference Championships on November 1.

Sophomore Jonathan Bazinet (California HS) led the Falcons over the four-mile course with a time of 21:37.90 to come in eighth place out of 101 runners. There was a tight pack that consisted of runners from the top four teams at the meet, with the next four Cerritos runners just :14 seconds apart, which comprised the team's score.

Freshmen Joshua Roldan (California HS) and Christopher Ramirez (California HS) came in 12th and 13th places, respectively with times of 21:49.20 and 21:50,70. Not far behind was sophomore Elvis Salinas (Norwalk HS), whose time of 21:55.10 put him in 15th place. The fifth Falcon runner to finish was freshman Francisco Ortiz (Katella HS), to took 18th place in a time of 22:03.50. Second place SD Mesa was able to block the final three runners one second apart, which enabled them to finish ahead of Cerritos in the team scoring.

The team entered 18 runners in the meet and some of the other runners included Omar Torres (Warren HS; 25th place; 22:16.50), Paul Mora (Whittier HS; 27th place; 22:25.30), David Pleitez (Lakewood HS; 28th place; 22:29.00), Eric Sanchez (Katella HS; 40th place; 22:53.60), Steven Hernandez (Kennedy HS; 45th place; 23:03.10), Donaldo Lopez (Gahr HS; 51st place; 23:09.80) and Joel Perez (Long Beach Wilson HS; 56th place; 23:23.40).
