Although it's called the SoCal Preview Meet, the Cerritos College men's cross country team was beat out for first place by a school from Northern California. The Falcons, running at Central Park in Santa Clarita, finished with 95 teams points, with American River College from Sacramento easily winning the event with 19 team points. In total, there were 30 schools that competed in the event. Cerritos will now travel north to San Francisco on Thursday for the Lou Vasquez Invitational, which will be run at Golden Gate Park.

Leading the way for the Falcons was sophomore Jonathan Bazinet (California HS), whose time of 21:40.80 put him in 10th place out of the 190 runners. By the time he had finished the race, the top five runners from American River had finished the course, which comprised their team score.

The next four Cerritos runners all finished the race within :16 seconds of each other, which allowed them to earn their second place team finish and edge third place Glendale College by five points. Freshman Anthony Lozano (La Serna HS) crossed the finish line in 22:01.52 to place 17th, while freshman Omar Torres (Warren HS) was right behind in 19th place in a time of 22:09.70. Freshman Christopher Martinez (22:14.47) came in 23rd place, with freshman Francisco Ortiz (Katella HS) taking 26th overall in 22:17.32 to round out the team scoring. Also running in the meet was sophomore Elvis Salinas (Norwalk HS), who placed 87th in a time of 23:52.86.

There was also an Overflow Race, which consisted of nine Cerritos runners who came in sixth place out of 11 teams with 133 team points. Once again, it was American River that won the race, as they comprised 19 points.

The highlight for the Falcons was freshman Joshua Roldan, who came in second place out of the 108 runners with a time of 22:45.90. He was edged out of first place by Brennan Holman of American River, who ran the course in 22:34.49. Sophomore Joel Perez (Long Beach Wilson HS) came in 18th place with a clocking of 23:54.81, with sophomore Steven Hernandez taking 30th place with a time of 24:26.20.

Also competing for Cerritos in the overflow race were freshman Ramiro Santana (49th place; 26:00.01), freshman Jorge Ayala (Artesia HS; 63rd place; 26:57.54), freshman Eric Sanchez (Katella HS; 74th place; 27:42.39), freshman Jarrett Moreno (St. Anthony HS; 83rd place; 22:22.02), George Robinson (87th place; 28:35.36) and freshman Daniel Eckhoff (Western HS; 96th place; 30:53.55).
